Born Hungarian-Slovak, yet Polish at heart, Beniowski’s tale is as bold as the brew that bears his name. Exiled to the frozen lands of Siberia, he did what any true pirate would— stole a ship and sailed to freedom. His journey took him to the southern coast of Africa, where, in 1776, he was proclaimed King of Madagascar.
